November 2017 Recap!

We were invited to check out this restaurant at Westfield Santa Anita and I was very impressed that food from a mall could be delicious!  We tried a variety of udon and ramen, and what was most unique was the Matcha Udon.  It was served cold, and limited to 24 servings per day at their Little Tokyo and Westfield Santa Anita locations.  We also got to try their appetizers such as the Tempura, Pork Cutlet, Omusubi, and Karaage Chicken.


2. The Tsujita (Glendale, CA) - @ashyi

This was our first time at The Tsujita at Americana and I absolutely loved the interior as well as the many food options they had here.  We came here to help promote their November deals and we got to try a few items such as the Spicy Tuna Don, Salmon Ikura Don, Killer Tonkotsu Ramen, and Cha Siu Tsukemen.  We paired our meal with some Asahi beer and Vegetable Peach Juice!


3. ChefBox (South Pasadena, CA) - @tableflipemoji

We came to check out this new concept, which was pre-packaged food prepared by passionate local chefs, available for pick-up or delivery.  It sounded like a great way to connect local chefs to customers, and for customers to try different kinds of cuisines.  We got the Pork Belly Adobo Rice Bowl and Crab Roll and were glad they had a microwave on site so we could try the food while we were there!


4. Rooster Republic (Santa Ana, CA)

Rooster Republic invited me to this location since they loved a photo I posted from their Smorgasburg location.  The staff recommended that we try their awesome sides, so that was what we focused on that day.  We got the Nashville Hot, which was a chicken sandwich, and got the Creamed Corn, Stovetop Mac & Cheese, and Mashed Potatoes & Red Gravy.  Everything was delicious!  I loved trying the sides and we would definitely be back soon to try the Classic Chicken!


5. Chunk-N-Chip (Santa Ana, CA) - @relaysocialllc

Chunk-N-Chip invited us to come check out their fall menu items.  There were so many options to choose from, so I ended up getting an ice cream flight, a cookie, and two pies, one of which had ice cream on it.  Some of my favorites from the ice cream were the Donut Bacon Brittle & Burnt Orange Sauce, and the Berry Cobbler. I also loved the Apple Cider Cookie and the Hazelnut & Mexican Chocolate Ganache Cookie Pie.


6. Pink Matter (Los Angeles, CA)

We were invited to check out Pink Matter, which had a few locations including a new pop-up location in West Hollywood.  We were able to stop by the Melrose Place Farmers Market and check out their cute stand as well as to try out the Pitaya Bowl.  The presentation was so beautiful with all the different ingredients placed in the dragonfruit, and I loved how refreshing the entire bowl was!


7. Locali (West Hollywood, CA) - @eatersanonymous @tpham

Locali was opening a new location in hollywood, and their concept was a fusion between 7-Eleven and Whole Foods, which meant convenience and healthy food in one place!  We got to try The Franklin Phenomenon and The Baaadasss Breakfast Sandwiches, and The Dragon Slayer and The Warrior smoothies.  The sandwiches were delicious and I could not believe there was no meat in them.  The smoothies were tasty and very healthy!


8. Feastown (Hollywood, CA) - @topfoodnews

We got to check out this new pop-up market featuring some awesome vendors, with free validated parking, which was a plus, since this market was at a very popular part of Hollwood.  The market was pretty nice, with plenty of space, seating, and live music.  There were vendors such as Secret Lasagna, Helados Pops, Tiki Rose, Norigami Tacos, Swirlz, and Chick N' Skin!  We got to try a little bit of everything and it was a great time!


9. Cafe Bora and Square Mixx restaurants (Los Angeles, CA)

We wanted to check out the beautiful desserts at Cafe Bora, and we got way more than we had expected.  We first tried some of the sweets they had to offer, including the Purple Sweet Potato Tiramisu, Sweet Pumpkin Bingsoo, Matcha Bingsoo, and Milk Ice Cream.  The owner surprised us with more..

After the delicious desserts, we checked out food from the restaurants at Square Mixx.  We ordered Pork Tenderloin Donkatsu from Brown Donkatsu, Thai-style Jjampong from Nipong Naepong, Hot Stone Spicy Pork Bibimbap from Sogongdong 1962.  I loved trying out all different traditional Korean cuisines from restaurants popular in Korea.  In the end, we got take some delicious Taikyaki from Curious Goldie!


10. Recess Italian Ice (Las Vegas, NV)

We took a trip down to Las Vegas for Thanksgiving (blog post and video to come soon in the Blog section) and reached out to Recess Italian Ice.  I was impressed with all the varieties of ice cream and Italian ice flavors they had.  We got the Ube and Green Tea swirl with Fruity Pebbles, and an Italian Ice with 5 flavors.  We also tried some of their drinks, including the Sunset and Taro Milk Tea.


Other November collaborations:

Mike’s Mighty Good sent me a box of craft ramen, as well a bowl and some chopsticks!  It has been fun trying all the varieties of ramen and creating my own bowls based on the ideas listed on each package.


Le Bon Garcon sent me Gingerbread Caramels and Salted Caramels to try as well as to help promote their new location to be coming soon in Hollywood.  I loved the festive flavors!


Snackoo sent a box full of Japanese snacks, with a mix of sweet and savory flavors.  I honestly loved everything I tried and loved that the snacks were sourced directly from Asia.  What a great concept!


Raw Spice Bar sent me some Garam Masala seasoning so I could use in a recipe, which I used in a Milk and Eggs recipe post here!
