Philadelphia Cream Cheese wanted me to create a pasta dish using their cream cheese products! That is not something I had ever thought about before, and I thought it was an amazing idea! I searched on the Kraft website to get some ideas and I adapted the recipe from this one: http://www.kraftrecipes.com/recipes/creamy-bacon-fettuccine-recipe-121728.aspx
This was my first time ever incorporating cream cheese into a dinner recipe, and it turned out delicious! I would definitely do this again!
Creamy Bacon Fettuccine Recipe
You will need:
1 package (8 oz.) cream cheese
½ cup plus 2 tbsp. milk, divided
½ tsp. garlic powder
½ tsp. dried Italian seasoning
6 strips of bacon
½ cup chopped red onions
1 cup frozen peas
Prep time: 30 minutes. Serves 4.
1. Cook and drain pasta as instructed on the package. While pasta is cooking, mix the cream cheese, 2 tbsp. milk, garlic powder and Italian seasoning together until blended.
2. Heat oil in a skillet and cook bacon for 5 minutes on each side, or until you reach your desired crispiness. Remove the bacon and drain on a plate lined with paper towels. When it is cool, chop bacon into small pieces.
3. Drain the oil from the skillet, leaving 2 tbsp. of oil in it. Reheat the skillet and add in the red onions and stir for 3 minutes. Add the cream cheese mixture, peas and ½ cup of milk. Stir for 3 minutes until cooked through.
4. Pour the pasta sauce over the pasta and top with bacon, or mix the sauce, bacon and pasta altogether and enjoy!
