August 2018 Recap!

August came and went so quickly!  It was surprisingly quite eventful month full of grand openings!

1. Midori Matcha (Los Angeles, CA) - @celinelinarte @eatswithanthony

Midori Matcha was opening their second location at in Costa Mesa, CA.  I was able to go to the Los Angeles location to help support them. It was great to finally check out a cafe dedicated to matcha!  The matcha items were organic and without any artificial ingredients. I loved the black sesame soft serve ice cream and I enjoyed trying the matcha tiramisu and pastries as well!

2. Macchiato (Monterey Park, CA) - @foodwithsoy @eatersanonymous @tpham

Another restaurant that was having a grand opening celebration was Macchiato at their Hacienda Heights location, but I went to the Monterey Park location to help promote them.  They were featuring Potted Plant Drinks, Macaron Ice Cream Sandwiches, and Sundae Mochi Waffles. We were also able to try some snacks and other drinks from their menu as well!

3. Next Republic Kitchen (Alhambra, CA) - @foodwithsoy @eatersanonymous @tpham

Next Republic was promoting their grand opening too!  I was always curious about this spot since it was Asian Fusion.  We got to try items such as Korean Chili Cheese Chicken Bites, Japanese Burger, Truffle Burger, Pork Belly Buns, Kimchi Pork Pasta, Drunken Beef Noodles, and Black Angel Wings.  A beautiful drink I tried and loved was the Beauty and the East!

4. Humphry Slocombe (Los Angeles, CA) - @breadandbutterpr (Guest of @dead_peach)

Humphry Slocombe opened their first location in Los Angeles, on Abbot Kinney Blvd. in Venice.  Previously, I had only seen their pints sold at Whole Foods and I was always curious about their flavors.  Pictured were the Roy Choi's Hawaiian Shave Ice and Blue Bottle Vietnamese Coffee, but I pretty much tried all the flavors and loved them all!

5. Karayama (Los Angeles, CA) - @turningoffjapanese

Karayama was opening their very first location in the U.S.  When I heard they served karaage, I was so excited!  It was so juicy and crunchy.  I loved the Karaage and the Kara-Tama Don (with egg), and the curry was delicious, but a bit too spicy for me!

6. Figat7th (Los Angeles, CA) - @therosegrp

Figat7th was celebrating National Sandwich Month and wanted us to promote sandwich items.  I tried the Chicken Katsu Sandwich from Gulp Sushi Alehouse. I was also able to try out the fresh sushi items on their menu!

7. Marugame Udon (Los Angeles, CA) - @breadandbutterpr (guest of @shelleyeatz)

Marugame Udon was opening a location at the Beverly Center!  It was great to see that part of the mall including more new businesses.  This was my first time trying out this restaurant chain. It was a cafeteria-like setup, but with udon, onigiri, and tempura.  I loved the Tonkotsu Udon and the varieties of tempura I got to try!

8. Tea Maru (San Gabriel, CA)

Tea Maru recently took over the Sharetea location with a brand new menu and concept.  They wanted to promote their freshly made in-house tapioca, with four flavors: Strawberry, Sweet Potato, Orange, Brown Sugar and Crystal.  I got to try the Maru Milk with Brown Sugar Boba, Grapefruit Fantasy, and Tea Maru Latte, and my favorite was the grapefruit one!

9. Jimboy’s Tacos (Brea, CA) - @dailyfoodfeed @lovetram @nonstopeats @paulsfoodhaul

I remembered falling in love with the Original Ground Beef Tacos from when I last tried Jimboy’s in Anaheim, CA.  I was so happy to hear they were opening up a location slightly closer to me. I got my favorites, including the Original Ground Beef Tacos and Street Nachos, and I also got to try seafood tacos and their desserts.  I loved the Grilled Shrimp Taco and the Creme-Filled Churros!

Other August Collaborations:

We Are LMS wanted to share with me their plant-based pizza from Sweet Earth Foods. I got to try the Protein Lover's and Truffle Lover's pizzas, and they were so easy to bake!  Each pizza was done cooking in 16 minutes.
